Remember When

Remember when you were a child, back in the day when we made our own fun. We did not play video games, spend hours in  front of the TV, or spend countless hours sending text messages. Heck we weren't even spending time surfing the web. Technology just hadn't made the spotlight yet.

But even before this, before TV and Howdy Doody, there was a wonderful thing Called radio shows. Every night families would gather around their radios to listen to their favorite programs. Mysteries, Comedys, Science fiction, Dramas, Super Heroes and much more. There was Superman, Gunsmoke, Amos and Andy, Cloak and Dagger and many exciting adventures.

Now imagine yourself, your spouse, and your children sitting around one evening listening to the story, closing your eyes and making your own visual of what the character or scene may look like. If your listening to a cliff hanger the discussion of what you might think is going to happen next.Quality family time!! And fun family time!!

Its like listening to an audio book but with a greater level of excitement and adventure. Its just the thing (in my opinion) that could help build stronger family relations. Bring back the board games, card games, and family dinners. Slow down and build stronger family ties.

There is a giant world of Old Time Radio Shows available online, and the best part they are FREE to download. Burn them to a disk pop them in the CD player and enjoy, its a great thing!!

My daughters and I listen to old time radio all the time: The Shadow, Dragnet, The Twilight Zone, Johnny Dollar. The girls even know the voice of Jack Benny and Bob Hope.

I like to sit back close my eyes and use my imagination. TV has spoiled every thing.

I have been collecting old time radio episodes for years. These are like time capsules, and many of the shows are great entertainment.

Had no idea those old radio shows were available online or anywhere - and they are free, now that's a surprise as well. I well remember sitting by the radio and listening to the Lone Ranger when I was a child!

I was born in 1970, but discovered a OTR show in the late 80s that played, "Cinammon Bear" during the holidays. And I've been hooked ever since. My favorites are "You Bet Your Life", "My Favorite Husband", Jack Benny and "Father Knows Best."
